8 years and 9 months - Merry Christmas... you have COVID on the start of your birth month! 🙏

Happy 8 years and 9 months sweet, Aspen! Your Dee Dee loves you to the moon and back and back again!

You are such a JOY in my life. You are sweet and loving. You are quick to give me a hug and really anyone that you meet. You are analytical and determined. You are competitive and are good at most everything you try. You are an outdoor boy through and through. You LOVE being outside. You love your pellet gun and fishing. You still love jerky and you love to eat rabbit and squirrel and deer. You could for sure keep us fed if need be! 😆

You've been borrowing Pop's pellet gun until you get a new one at Christmas!

I LOVE to watch you explore outside!

I love to watch the sun set in our pasture!

Chippy and Snowflake came back on December 1st!

December has been a warm month. We love to sit outside in the afternoon!

You both love the tree in front of our house!

You love to play with Truett!

I bought Bennett this dart board and it entertained you three for a good while!

I love how you love to copy of your Daddy! Always wanting to help!

You went fishing with your Dad and Pops... What a cool sunset picture!

Your Mom is so good to help you put things together!

You love playing with your Dad!

I was laying in my ENO and you came to show me the birdhouse you made. You are very resourceful and dream up all sorts of projects!

I was going to read but I would rather you come and hang with me anyway!

Your Dad was cleaning the roof and you really wanted to help!

You are very creative!

Watching outdoor videos with Pops! 💙

You helped me wrap B's birthday presents!

You came and helped me put the tree together in the basement. We hung ornaments that we didn't finish earlier in the month. Such a sweet time!

You have learned the art of sarcasm... which fits right in with our family! You and Pops have fun smarting off while playing Nintendo golf. 😆

You cooked an apple on the fire! LOL

Your Dad was off work for 2 weeks and you all finished the cabin!

Put a hunting show on the TV and you get really still! 🤣

Your Mama and Daddy went on a date. We went to Monroe and walked through the lights!

We ate Taco Bell in the car!

We love hanging in the basement!

Your Mama watched Truett and Thomason a couple of days this month!

You can be so silly!

If your Mom needs you to settle down... a quick TV time will do the trick!

You and your Dad made these reindeer and you sold about $250 worth! I love how you are already wanting to make money.

You LOVE to hold Truett..

Wandering on our land...

We looked out the window and you had killed a squirrel with your pellet gun! 🤣

It's amazing to me that you already know how to clean one all by yourself!

Pop's said you did a great job! You kept the meat to eat out at your cabin!

Bringing in the wood to make your deer!

You worked SO hard!

SEE!!! SILLY! 🤣

We made Christmas ornaments... just like your Mom did in 3rd grade! 🎄

Pops and I left to go camping at FDR and to Warm Springs. I love a good send off!

My Ree Ree and Papa are buried in Columbus at ParkHill Cemetery. We went by to see their grave.

This is the house I lived in in Columbus until I was 8. It was SO tiny! My Papa built the house.

2736 Fernwood Ave

This is where my Ree Ree and Papa lived in Columbus on Glenview Dr.

I was SOOO excited that you all came down to see us at Calloway Gardens...

We went to the Butterfly House!

Your mission was to have one land on you! 🦋

Your Dad was feeding your Mama a frozen lemonade. 😆🧡

LOVE!!!!

One of my favorite pictures ever. You put your arm around B all by yourself! SO sweet!

They silly too! 🤣

We played glow in the dark putt putt!

All by yourself you started dancing big time! I laughed so hard!

They had the cutest photo props!

Y'all saw Rudolph too!

I love how the nativity was displayed. After all... Jesus IS the reason for the season!

You wanted this light up hat! SO fun!

You absolutely LOVE a funnel cake. You eat it like you're afraid someone is going to take it from you! 😆

I love this chair at Callaway. I asked Pops if he thought I could climb up there. You said..."Of course you can! You did last year!" hahahaha

Your Dad had some time off and you all cooked rabbit and squirrel at the fire by the cabin!

You're a fan!

Silly Chippy and Snowflake! 🤣

Cleaning a rabbit!

You are always working on something! You made a spear and painted it!

Y'all finished the cabin and spent the night out there!

SO brave!

Nintendo was a good purchase!

Y'all look like twins! LOL

Making a Christmas ornament... SO creative!

You had clinic Christmas week! You gained 3 pounds! Your highest weight gain EVER in that time frame. The doctor was so pleased! You blew a 98 on the PFT's but the doctor said that probably had something to do with your height and growth. Your lungs sounds clear and your liver numbers came back GREAT! PRAISE THE LORD!!! Trikafta is working and your body is handling it!

Clinic gave you gifts this visit! So fun!

That night we celebrated by decorating gingerbread deer!

Your first time to get a hold of my phone and take pictures! LOL

You love to give Bow Valley treats!

You have a little bit of a temper when things don't go right! 😲 Pops asked you to help him make a craft and you wanted to make a wreath. It didn't turn out like you wanted and you were pouting. This is Pop's giving you a lecture. LOL

We did an Advent tree together. I was so grateful y'all did this with me.

We celebrated Bennett's 7th birthday in Monroe. We grabbed some pizza at Little Italy's!

The live nativity was so awesome. You both loved it!

We love our little town of Monroe. We hardly ever go to Loganville anymore. We always head to Monroe or Athens.

Bennett wanted Scoops so we went to Scoops!

We came home and made hot chocolate!

On Bennett's actual birthday we went to Alexander Park to play on the playground. You make friends easily.

B wanted sushi from Thai Diner!

I love how you're watching B open presents!

AHHHH!!!! SO exciting! The night of B's birthday - 12-23-2021 - you asked Jesus into your heart. You FaceTimed me to tell me all about it. I was SOOOO excited. I started praying for this day when you were born. I prayed you would come to know the Lord at an early age. I pray for your choices. Your friends. Your future spouse! I praise the Lord for this decision and pray you will always draw near to HIM! He will always draw near to you. This is one of the biggest and the best decisions you will make in your life.

And you know what's cool? Dee Dee asked Jesus into her heart on 12-10-1972. I was 8 years old too in December. I love that SO much. That's special to your Dee Dee.

I came downstairs because you were with Pops! I asked him what you were doing and he said he didn't know. I found you in his shop just working away! 💙

You wanted to know what was for lunch! I love that so much! You made yourself an omelette.

Christmas Eve y'all got to open one gift.

I read y'all part of the Christmas story.

We made cookies for Santa! One of my favorite things about Christmas Eve!

We made the easy kind this year but it was still so much fun!

I love when you ask to get the silly filters out!

🤣

SOOO cute!

This is one of my favorite pictures! HOW CUTE are y'all!

Leaving cookies for Santa! 🎅

And... a coke!

We left the reindeer food too!

One of the greatest gifts I get ALL year is you all spending the night at our house on Christmas Eve. It's my favorite tradition. I love to see Christmas through your eyes. I'm so grateful that your Mama and Daddy want to stay. What a blessing!

Pops and I sing... Lou Lou Belle... and Danielle! It's Christmas time at our house! SO fun!

Going in to see what Santa brought! 💛

Fishing supplies and a bag with a hammer and all the stuff you usually take from your Daddy! LOL

Checking it out..

The reindeer food is gone!

Stocking time!!!!

You LOVED the pellet gun that me and Pops gave you!

SO excited to open the big package from your Mama and Daddy! It was a soccer goal!

You saw this deer head when we were camping at Mistletoe. You asked then to get it for Christmas!

I can't wait to watch you master your skates!

OH MY HEART! I sure do love y'all!

Christmas morning traditions! Cinnamon rolls with candles and singing HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JESUS!

You couldn't wait to get outside!

Bennett got a zip line! You, of course, went down with no hands! 😂

The lady from FedEx that delivered your Trikafa the first time text me on Christmas Day. How special!

Everyone went to see the finished cabin!

The day after Christmas... your Dad wasn't feeling well. We had been together ALL day and the two previous days too. As soon as we left your house on that Sunday night, your Mom called to tell us your Dad tested positive for Covid. I was in disbelief. We had just seen y'all!

By Tuesday you weren't eating and couldn't keep any liquids down and Dr S said to go to CHOA and that you would be admitted. SO scary.

You couldn't even walk to the car!

You waited outside at CHOA!

You did SOOOO well  with your IV. Your Mama was super proud of you and so was I! Way to go!

You were really dehydrated. You were pale and had chapped lips. They said they would admit you and observe for 24 hours. But.. after giving you the IV fluids and taking a chest x-ray and realizing your oxygen was 100%... they let you go home late Tuesday night. You got home close to midnight.

Your Mama has Covid now and so does sweet B! Your Mom came home and Bennett was asleep in the floor and your Dad was sleeping. They both had a fever of 101 something. Your Mom's was getting closer to 103. You FINALLY wanted to eat. This was your pick - a bagel and Mac and cheese. LOL

I'm praying you kept it down.

We've been dreading you all getting Covid - or really any of us! But what an AMAZING thing that NO ONE in our family has had covid for the almost 2 years its been around. So far, Pops and I are holding out. I'm praying if we should get it for antibodies that we will but it would be kind of cool to have that much exposure and NOT get it. I'm praying for the Lord's will.

We have SOOO many praying for you sweet boy! A friend of mine got on her knees and prayed for you earlier today. You have been lifted up and I know the Lord has His hand on you.

Lord Jesus.... You see and you know! I pray protection over Aspen's body. I pray protection over his lungs. I pray for Lindsey and Chris and Bennett. Lord, I ask you to help their case be mild and for them not to have any complications. I pray their fevers will be short lived. We trust you, Lord. You are faithful. We ask for healing in Jesus name! Amen

Your Dee Dee loves you SO much! I pray this will be a good rest of the month and you won't lose too much weight with this illness.
