Welcome 2018!!!
We're praying this will be a good year for YOU and for our family. January has been a healthy month so far and we are grateful! It's flu season and this is one of the worst flu seasons in recent years. They are calling it an "epidemic!" We are trying to avoid crowded places and doing everything we can to avoid the flu. Please, Lord, keep the flu away from our family.
We started out the month celebrating New Years Eve. We usually go to the mountains but decided against it this year. I'm kind of glad because it was BITTER cold. It was 3 degrees in the Highlands.
Dee Dee bought you some sparklers! You loved them!
You had Bennett had so much fun...
Dada, Pops and Co-Chri had a "BLAST!" :) You wanted to be right in the middle...
It was so cold that we could only go outside for about 5 minutes at a time! Thomason was bundled tight! :)
Practicing your "mad" balancing skills!
You LOVE hugging Thomason!
You are really good at playing the Wii! You already have a competitive streak in you.
You made it until mid-night and you were so proud of yourself!
You helped me make New Years Day breakfast. You are a PRO at cracking eggs...
Using the egg beater that was my Ree Ree's! I love to talk to you about her. That's how I chose the name, Dee Dee! :)
You LOVE Checkers! I gave you this game this month and you ask to play it every day that I see you. First thing! LOL
Dee Dee called to see if you wanted to come up during quiet time and you were SUPER excited. You love to play with your I-PAD and to lay on our bed. Oh... and to eat gummies!
You are so stinking cute and this Dee Dee loves you SO much!
You went into the den and got our book from 2015. You wanted me to "read" it to you. I loved this so much!
I can't wait for you to want to read your blogs and to see how much you've changed and grown and how the Lord has had his hand on you.
Just another game of Checkers... :)
You LOVE Jenga! You are really, really good at it. You have a steady hand.
One of the rare "warmer" days and we sat outside all day. ha! You love to drive your gator!
You were SUPER sweet this day but B wasn't cooperating! haha You were lecturing Bennett on playing right! :)
Sometimes being the bigger brother has its advantages...
You have amazing balance! You love your new trampoline...
You are my funny face buddy!
Playing at Nelly's apartment...
I LOVE to watch you fly on the plane Pops built you!
Telling your Mommy to go higher and higher!
You LOVE to ride your bicycle and are SUPER good without training wheels!
January 12th was a year since the day I had my kidney removed. I LOVE that you picked this card out for me...
And your sweet words! That's me on the left because I have longer hair. That's a frog in the middle because you love frogs and that's you on the bottom right because you have spiky hair. hahaha! You are SO sweet and so thoughtful and complimentary. You are going to make an awesome husband one day.
Your hugs are the BEST!
You love games SO much!
All three of Dee Dee's boys!
Trying to get Thomason to do selfies with us! :)
Oh my word!!!! Y'all bring so much JOY!
We watched Thomason while Nelly and Co-Chri went on a date. We played games and watched The Lion King...
And... played the Wii!
You are competitive and independent and I love your sweet spirit!
I'm so thankful you do your breathing treatments well...
Helping Dada make breakfast...
We went to Stone Mountain and had SO much fun!
We rode the car to the top! Dee Dee doesn't "love" this but anything for you...
So excited!!!
Thinking about going to Snow Mountain one day...
You thought the top of the mountain was pretty cool. I can't wait to climb it with you one day!
It was a beautiful but cold day!
You three!!!! :) :) :)
The water up-top was frozen! You thought that was pretty cool. Dee Dee bought you a new hat and gloves!
Making a "mountain penny!"
You said that putt-putt was one of your favorite things! I can't wait to go back with you. We made it about 1/2 way because it was soooo cold!
We came to see the dinosaurs but they were closed until MARCH!!! WHAT? haha!
2 days later it snowed... The weathermen aren't usually right so we weren't expecting it. ha! It was SO cold that the snow was really powdery and we couldn't make a snowman.
You tried to ride your Gator up to Dee Dee's house but it was a little slippery. School was out for THREE days because of the ice on the roads.
Making snowballs the best you could!
It was your first time to make a snow angel...
Eating lunch at Chipotle and going to PJ Maxx (TJ Maxx)! LOL
We made a quick Target run and you found this fun "Happy New Years" hat on clearance! hahaha
You got a surprise at TJ Maxx...
This still makes me smile! :)
Oh the things you can find at TJ Maxx! LOL
Y'all love bath time...
This was the first day we could get outside after the snow and we were in shorts and super excited for 60 degrees!
You love to play chase! You are such an incredibly fast runner! I'm already praying that you will run track in school! Move those lungs around sweet boy!!!
Dee Dee can't play chase very well but I sure give it my best try!
Your tractor wasn't working right and you said, "let's just open the hood and look at the engine!" hahaha
I love that you love to try new things! Pops was having a spinach salad and you helped him eat it!
Thomason came over to play on the first beautiful weekend!
You two are already buds!
Dee Dee hadn't been on a trampoline in 40 years but I couldn't turn down the offer to join you! You wanted us to hold hands. OH MY HEART! :)
We went to Chipotle for dinner...
Life is never boring with you two around...
It's been SOOO cold all month and finally a day that was 70!!! We had a picnic outside and laid in our ENO's...
One of my favorite pictures.... just chilling!
Snuggling with you in my ENO makes this Dee Dee's heart full...
When you were 3, I taught you to put your feet in Dada's face while we were driving. You've never forgotten!
You LOVE your Great Strides sunglasses and the chaco's you wore to CO!
Dada spent the day fishing so we went to check on him! This covered bridge was at Black Shoals...
You've been waiting on this day! Pajama day! SOOO cute!
I love, LOVE, love that your Mommy rewards you for doing your vest! That makes you look forward to special computer or game playing. Such a fun way to pass time during your treatments...
You were SUPER excited for Dee Dee to pick you up from school and take you to get your hair cut. You LOVE to get your haircut and you love to look on google images to pick what you want! You are such a determined little guy and I'm so proud of you! You walked right in and told the lady exactly what you wanted! :)
You were SO proud of your new haircut! You told everyone you saw about it! :) You got upset with Mommy several days recently because Dee Dee didn't pick you up. You love your Dee Dee time!
We went to TJ Maxx and you picked out these gummy worms...
You were supposed to go to the dentist for the first time. When you and Mommy and Dada got there... they wouldn't see you without a letter from your CF doctor. WHO KNEW? You were disappointed.
You love to show us your muscles and you LOVE to help... especially when it involves picking up heavy things! :)
Dee Dee and Pops were leaving for the mountains and you were NOT a fan! You didn't want us to go and your pouty face made Dee Dee sad but also made Dee Dee's heart explode. You gave us at least 10 hugs bye. I sure do love you and the special relationship we have. I pray we will always have it!
Mommy was brave! Dee Dee and Pops were gone and Dada was playing his game... so she took off to the zoo with just the two of you! She said you both were angels. I'm so glad!
Y'all had so much fun!
Riding the train...
Playing on the playground at the zoo...
I missed taking a picture with Willie B with you! :)
We got home from the mountains and you came to see us! So did Nelly, Co-Chri and Thomason. You LOVE Thomason and helping out with him.
You wanted to help change his diaper and dress him... I love your heart for Thomason!
You were determined to button his outfit. hahahaha
Snuggling in our bed with you is so much fun! We played the "snake" game...
Dada made us dinner and it was yummy! We watched you play on the Wii when we finished eating. Dee Dee beat you in one of the game and you were NOT happy. LOL You love playing the Wii.
You are so brave! I'm so glad your visit to CHOA in November didn't "scar" you at clinic. Mommy said you were REALLY good with respiratory and the nurses and Dr. S and everyone but the social worker! haha! She asked Mommy if she needed to speak to a "behaviorist"! LOL And Dr. S complemented Mommy on how well y'all were behaved. We're thinking you don't like the social worker very well. ha!
Your weight can't seem to get out of the 38 pound range. You weighed in at 38.8 pounds (38.5 in December). You were 44.3 inches and in the 85th percentile today. You've grown a FULL INCH in 6 weeks! The doctor was OK with your weight BMI---5th percentile because you are staying where you've been. You can tell you are growing taller. :)
Your visit was long this month... over 3 hours! You've got to pass the time in that crammed up room somehow! :)
Playing with Mommy's glasses... hahahahaha
I'm SUPER proud of you. You're getting so good at doing PFT's (pulmonary function test). Dr S said your lungs sound excellent. Your cough is gone and she considers you back to your baseline! PRAISE THE LORD!
You blew a 101!!! The highest in office score and we're thankful beyond words. She switched you to 12000 Creon and is hoping the increased dosage will help you put on some weight. You seem to be eating really well. Mommy says you almost always eat most of your lunch at school.
No change in treatment and you don't have to go back to clinic until APRIL 13th!!!! Your annual visit (x-rays and blood work) has been changed to November... the month you were admitted.
What an awesome visit. The Dr said to contact them at the first hint of getting the flu. We sure are praying that the flu stays FAR, FAR away from you and our family.
I love how analytical you are. You are aware and observe everything. You ask SO many questions. You want to know "why" on just about everything. You like people to "look at you" while you are talking and will often say..."Dee Dee! Look at me! Look at me!!!" ...even if you only turn your head for a split second. :)
You love to ride with Dee Dee and Pops if we are going off. You play well with Bennett sometimes and at other times, you love to drive him crazy! I guess that's what brothers are for. :)
We were riding down the road recently and heard this....
"Don't say another word, Bennett! One more word and you're not playing with me! I don't want to hear any more words You're only 3 and I'm almost 5. You're not a grown up!"
BAHAHAHAHAHA
B also loves to push your buttons! He asked you this month if you were going to EAT kindergarten. You replied..."You can't! It's too big. See that building?" Bennett responds and you say..."STOP talking! Chill!" hahaha
You are Dee Dee's buddy and I'm grateful that you love to spend time with me. I'm not taking that for granite and I'm enjoying every minute I can. I'm soaking it all in and I pray you and I will always have a bond.
You can hardly wait until your birthday. You love school and hot lunches! :) You love getting your hair cut and often want Dee Dee to cut your finger nails. ha! Your favorite color is still green. You love playing the Wii but love playing outside too! I'm praying, even now, that you'll always love to run and jump and do things that will help your lung function. You are super talkative and rarely stop. :) You love going to church and it's so good for you to be able to go. I usually ride with y'all to church on Wednesday night. You LOVE games. Right now, Checkers is your favorite but you also love Jenga and Connect 4. You are very independent and like to do things yourself. You love to cook and to help with things. You are funny and silly and remember everything now! Your opinionated and determined and this Dee Dee couldn't love you MORE!
I believe God's hand is on you in a mighty way! I believe He made you just the way you are so that you could fight CF the best way possible. Your personality is just what CF needs!
I also BELIEVE a CURE is coming and effective treatments.
Oh how I pray for our Great Strides event in May to be highly successful. We are about to begin fundraising and it's my prayer that people will step up because they care and that I won't feel discouraged. This Dee Dee wants SOOOO badly to see a CURE in my lifetime and certainly in yours.
