Happy 5 years and 9 months... 3/4th of the way to SIX!
You have changed the most this month than anytime during your "5th" year... at least in Dee Dee's opinion. You're pushing your limits just a little bit more. You are more sarcastic and you can tell you are picking up an attitude (from school we guess). Your Mom and Dad do an awesome job of keeping you in line! Sometimes things are funny the first time... but they won't be for long! This is the age to see what you can get away and I'm grateful for your "village" that all agree on things.
You are sweet and funny, independent and sometimes prideful. You are stubborn yet determined. You are analytical and daring in most ways. You know what you want and when you want it. You are full of energy and still LOVE games! You are so much fun and bring so much JOY to all of us! I'm so grateful I am able to watch you grown into the boy... and eventually the man that the Lord has planned for you!
You love to draw and sometimes your drawings are easy to understand and sometimes... not so much! LOL
December has been a month of extremes! We are 16-17 INCHES over normal for rainfall. It's been a wet, wet winter so far! Some days have been warm and some days have been brutally cold.
You've had a little more energy after school than normal because of no recess due to rain!
I love when you draw me pictures!
You made this stocking at school that shows a toy for Thomason, a drone for you, an exercise watch for Mommy and a gaming system for Dada! Pretty good job there! :)
Our Polar Express pajamas came in the mail today and we are a HUGE fan! :)
We went to see The Grinch in Athens and LOVED it!
You're a fan of the corn at Frontera's!
Hot chocolate at our game night and movie night in the basement...
You love to play racing games in the basement...
I can't wait to watch you as you grow older! We found another leak in the basement and you are already wanting to help!
Dee Dee picked you up from school in Daisy!
You love to come back to my house to play games!
We play a lot of board games but also play some games on my I-Pad
You found these gummies in your stocking and I'm like..."SURE! Why not!" LOL
Pops is out of town and your Mommy is so good to invite Dee Dee down for dinner when he's gone! You picked me out a present at the "store" at school. I got a new "grandma" ornament! :)
You bought Bennett a slinky!
Bennett spent the night with Dee Dee because you had to leave for CHOA at 7:30am the next morning! It was time for your hospital follow up (PFT's and a CT scan of your lungs).
You blew 93%... not quite where you were (97%) but close enough to make Dr. S feel "OK" about things...
They wouldn't let you eat because of your CT scan. Your Mommy says you were dreaming of Micky D's! LOL
After a REALLY long day at the hospital... a little bit of fun was due! :)
You saw all sorts of people at your CF clinic visit. You had lost weight... back down to 18.9 kg. You are starting flagyl in hopes that it will help with "gut" health! You left your appointment not knowing that the CT scan results came back AWESOME! Dr. S was concerned that something was going on with your lungs that was causing you not to be able to keep weight on.
A Facebook post to thank friends for praying:
🙌🏻 Praise! His lung function was UP! Not quite to his original baseline but close enough for now. He won’t need to have the bronchoscope unless his CT scan (results next week) show more concern.
👎🏻 His weight is down. He’s in the “malnourished” category so he was given a new medicine to try that will hopefully attack the bacteria in his gut and prayerfully put on some weight (he will also be trying to add MORE calories by doing things like putting butter underneath his peanut butter on sandwiches)! 💪🏻😬 He sees the gastro doctor in 3 months and if he begins to “track” down anymore, they will start discussing a feeding tube. Praying he can pack on some weight soon. 🙏🏻
Sure praying his CT scan won’t show anything we aren’t expecting. 🙏🏻💜
Thank you ALL!
Dr. S called the Friday before Christmas to say that the CT scan showed GREAT results. The lungs have 3 parts... the upper, middle and lower lobes. The middle lower only compromises 20% of the lung function. This area showed "minimal" problems but the upper and lower lobes showed NO damage related to CF! Amazing news and we are giving the Lord ALL the glory! Thank you, Jesus! The goal is to keep his sweet lungs healthy until the medicine that comes out in 2020 (prayerfully) is available to help any progression). His sickness in November didn't do any permanent damage and we are SO grateful!
I love to watch you ride your bikes! We rode together today too! Bennett isn't quite ready to join in on the fun!
After a really long Friday CF clinic visit... we went to Stone Mountain Christmas on Saturday. Mommy was home sick with strep! We were SO thankful you two didn't get it. I was a little concerned because you were SUPER tired on the way to the mountain!
We sure did miss Mommy and Dada and Nelly was in TX but we had an awesome time!
You really wanted your face-painting!
SO proud of your deer...
We got some candy and a prize!
We rode the train around the mountain! I LOVE that they take the time to share the GREATEST gift... Jesus! I'm praying you will always remember WHY we celebrate Christmas! Happy birthday, Jesus!
Listening to the story...
You passed OUT on the way home...
Dee Dee had a surprise 60th birthday party for Mrs. Sandie! You came up to give birthday hugs! :)
Mrs. Sandie's Mom loved hugging you too! You are SO sweet!
The next day, Pops took the day off work to drive us to Bryson City, NC to ride the Polar Express. We stopped at a BQ place in Franklin, NC for lunch and you wanted Pop's stew. He's such a good Pops!
We brought matching pajamas to wear on the Polar Express! :)
We walked through town and got your Mommy's favorite ice cream!
We even went to Mrs. Michele's friend's shop!
Pop's didn't care what people thought about him matching too! He's a trooper and we made some incredible memories! Some of my favorite ones. I'm so grateful we could go...
I love when YOU ask me to take your picture! :)
You were super excited that you got a cherry!
This will forever be one of my favorite memories. SO much fun!

You had a balloon made after riding the train! What a fun night...
The next night, we went to Athens with Thomason to see Santa!
And we ate dinner at Taqueria Del Sol in Athens...
The NEXT day, I picked you up from school on your last day before winter break! What a fun week you have had!
You came home with all sorts of exciting things to show us!
SOOOO cute! Not sure about that pet bat! haha You were quick to tell Mommy that SANTA would too bring you what's on your list cause you told HIM! Too funny!
We sat outside and looked at all the things you got from your class party...
I love how excited you get!
JoJo wasn't keeping kids this week because Rachael had bronchitis, so you spent the day with Nelly while Mommy worked Kohl's! Y'all painted!
Mommy also watched Thomason while Nelly worked. You LOVE to play with Thomason and to snuggle him if he will let you! :)
On the weekend before Christmas we went to Fern-bank to celebrate B's 4th birthday...
We came home and had pizza and ice cream and cake and Nelly's friend the dinosaur came to visit and so did Mrs. Stefanie and Mr. Jared!
B was scared at first and so was Thomason but you knew someone was "inside" there all along! LOL
On Bennett's birthday, you all went to the aquarium! It's the last day to use your annual pass! What a great idea Mommy had! You got this face-painting! Pops and I met y'all afterwards at Frontera's!
They brought B a volcano dessert!
JoJo gave you this game and you had so much fun playing it!
You love to hold Thomason and I love to hold you holding Thomason! :)
On Christmas Eve, we thought we were going to Cracker Barrel in Athens but there was a 1.5 hour wait. We also checked I-Hop and ended up going to CFA because we had company coming at noon!
Me and Mommy went into Trader Joe's! You are good at letting Mommy out of the truck! LOL
Thankful that Christmas Eve was a beautiful day...
You were so excited for Steven (and everyone else) to be coming over!
You can tell we trust your balancing skills since no-panicked while you climbed on Pops! HAHA
We didn't have long enough. We had to go to church....
You love holding Thomason even though he can be super hard to hold! :)
Another year of fun traditions... Pops went and got Granny and Papa and Co-Chri took them back home that night...
Christmas morning breakfast in the works but Thomason wanted it NOW! lol
You've started wanting to help wash dishes!
We made cookies for Santa!
And we decorated them...
We put some milk out with our cookies for Santa!
This is our 2nd year with a "fake" tree and I'm getting used to it already! SO beautiful!
Mommy put out reindeer food for Rudolph. We forgot to let you and B do it! Ooops!
Santa ate as much as he could!!! :)
Pops and I always sing, "Lou Lou Bell and Daniellllleee" for y'all to come down the stairs. OH MY HEART... I love it that we can be a part of this every year. My heart is FULL!
You two were up and ready to go on Christmas morning! :)
Shocked that Santa made a mess!
The closest thing Santa could bring you that resembled a jet pack!
Opening presents...
Opening your main present from Dee Dee and Pops! It's a box telling y'all we are going to DISNEY WORLD in a few weeks!
I LOVE this picture and can't wait to watch y'all have SO much fun!
Nelly got you this cool
truck that saves money when you put some in...
You were also STOKED to get Tick, Tack, Tongue! LOL
Pops loved the ornament you bought him at school...
Checking out the reindeer food that was left after Rudolph came!
Singing HAPPY BIRTHDAY to JESUS with our breakfast on Christmas morning...
Another beautiful afternoon to play...
Dee Dee and Pops bought a new golf cart and let's just say you're not quite ready to drive it! You stood up on the gas and we almost hit a tree! LOL
Playing outside was so much fun!
Co-Chri and Pops worked with you on hitting the ball...
And we rode around the yard and the pasture too!
Goodness I love you ALL so much!
What a sweet picture of the guys!
The day after Christmas was the only day all week (after Christmas) that it wasn't going to rain! All Dee Dee wanted to do was climb the mountain. Mommy and B decided to join us at the last minute!
You are my climbing buddy! You LOVE to!
SO much fun!
We made it to the top! We rode the cars down so we could go into Crossroads again...
We missed the gingerbread man the first time we went...
Pops is off work this week and you are out of school! You two did this puzzle twice!
We realized we didn't put the star on the top of our advent tree on Christmas. I'm glad you remembered though!
Me and you and B played the longest game of Candy Land ever! You won! :)
You all went home and watched Home Alone and ate Mexican! SO much fun!!!
Your Dee Dee loves you to the moon and back and back again! I'm grateful for an awesome month and a LOT of fun memories to last a lifetime! You don't have to go back to school until January 7th... HOORAY! Praying that everyone will stay healthy the rest of the month and winter and praising Him that we've all done pretty well so far. Georgia is once again leading the country with number of flu cases reported. Thank you, Lord, that no-one in our family has had it!
Thank you to ALL that pray for sweet Aspen!
He doesn't have to go back to CF clinic until March (unless something changes).
Our prayer requests:
* Weight gain
* His lungs to stay healthy
* No hospital admissions
* Aspen's friendships as they form
* Aspen to keep his determined spirit and use it for his good
Aspen ... Your Dee Dee is praying it's just a phase you are going through with your attitude. I pray you will listen without being told over and over and over again. I pray you will make healthy friendships and that you will be confident in WHO you are and WHO you belong to. I'm praying for the drugs in trial to be ALL that you need them to be. I'm praying for school and so much more! I pray January will be a wonderful month for you and our family! Happy monthly birthday buddy!
We will be kicking off our 2019 GREAT STRIDES fundraising in February. If you are interested in joining our team... please message me at debbiethomason314@gmail.com!
