5 years and 5 months - SO sweet and SO brave!

Aspen!!! Your Dee Dee can NOT believe you are Kindergarten. It seems like yesterday you were born and here you are leaving at 8am and not getting home until 3:45. It has been a long day for you to adjust to but you seem to be doing well in school. You have received all :) from Mr. Gerald. I'm so proud of you. More on school soon....!

This has been a pretty good month for you. You are sick right now with a cough that won't go away but your Mommy is calling the CF clinic tomorrow for a new anti-biotic. You took a Z-pack but it didn't get rid of it all. You have some wheezing tonight, so I'll be anxious to see what they say.

You are SO sweet and LOVE your Dee Dee SO much and your Dee Dee couldn't love YOU more. You get so excited to come to my house. You get so excited for me to come home from being out of town. You get so excited for me to pick you up from school. I don't want these sweet days to end. LOL I know they will to some degree but I'm praying we will always have a sweet relationship like we do now. You've been telling me recently that you want to marry me when you get older. I've explained several times that we can't get married and all the whys but it hasn't sunk in yet. SO stinking cute. :) This week you told me again and I just told you how sweet you are. Because... that IS the sweetest thing. Your sweet and innocent and you'll learn soon enough! :)

We started out the month going school shopping! Me, you and Mommy went to Athens to get some cool shoes! We went to TJ Maxx and Target and had so much fun! You picked out your new Nike's all by yourself. You were so proud of them.

 We had Chipotle for lunch...

You LOVE playing games! It's been a hot month but we try to spend as much time as we can outside...

We love going to Lake Varner! Pops is trying to teach you to skip rocks.

We both love a good sunset! This wasn't the prettiest one but we still had so much fun...

You picked me these flowers! SO sweet. They stayed in water in my kitchen for a couple of weeks!

You love games more these days but it was fun getting to put a puzzle together with you!

We went to Open House at your new school... Walnut Grove Elementary. Your Dada went to this school! It's hard for your Dee Dee to think of you being here... but it's time!

I'm so proud of you for being so brave!

You have 21 kids in your class! Right now, you talk to me the most about Cayden, Carson and Emmalee. I can't wait to come have lunch with you and to meet your friends!

So independent!

A little nervous the first day but by the second day you were a PRO! :)

Mr. Gerald

You have the honor and the CF Foundation also has the honor of having you as a Fall Ambassador for fundraisers. I'm so proud of you. You don't understand very much about CF at this point but you're starting to ask questions!

You and I had the opportunity to work on a very special project together! :)

You did SO well with your part but Dee Dee couldn't stop laughing! hahaha I wish I had a picture of the way that you looked at me when you told me to STOP (in a very nice way). LOL

You love your friend! :)

Dee Dee needed a picture of you for the CF Foundation that showed WHO you are. At the time, I couldn't think of a better way to introduce new people to you. You love water. You love swimming! You are so handsome!

We found something new that you LOVE! Bead making! You make a figure and iron it and you have so much fun!

The first thing we made was your Mommy a Delilah! That was your choice and SUPER sweet!

Your first day of Kindergarten! Seeing you run to my house made my day so special!

I love how excited you are to go and to see me!

Your smile! Your cute little outfit! Your hair! You are SUPER handsome, Aspen!

Your Mommy couldn't believe it was time for Kindergarten either! It was a morning with mixed emotions!

I love this picture of us!

Your first "big" school...

I love your independent spirit. I always tell you that you can DO anything you put your mind to. The Lord knew you needed to have an independent way about you and I love to witness it. You can be stubborn and determined and I'm so grateful.

Ready for your first day but you needed just one more hug! :)

We waved goodbye from the door and it was cute to watch you wave back!

I came back with Mommy to pick you up from school! I LOVE the look on your face when you saw us!

We went to Great Harvest after school for a cookie...

You and Bennett were fascinated with the chef...LOL

After school we played with more beads...

You are really good at this!

We ate out on Dee Dee's porch on your first day of school. It was so much fun!

Dee Dee was able to pick you up from school on your second day of school!

You were SUPER excited!

We aren't really supposed to pull over after I get you in car pool line but you insist that we do and you can't wait to pull out your folder!

We came back to our house and you wanted to snuggle! Dee Dee LOVES to snuggle and laugh and talk!

You make me smile! You love to hide... but there wasn't anyone here to hide from! ha

You have a fun personality! I turn around and you are looking at me with my glasses on!

Me and you went to meet Nelly, Co-Chri and Thomason for dinner in Loganville!

I love how YOU love to play at our house...

It doesn't happen often but when you fall asleep sitting with me it makes my heart melt!

I laugh every time I see this picture! You LOVE to pick up Thomason. This was at church. I'm not sure Thomason loved it this time though. haha!

Our church is being remodeled, so why not throw paper airplanes in the hall. LOL

We went to lunch at Chipotle. You love to play phone games with your Dada!

We went to the Back to School bash at church and you had so much fun!

You love to read books! I love this picture...

You LOVE to draw and to cut things out!

You do such a great job!

Watching you run is one of my favorite things to do! I know the mucus in your lungs is getting pushed all around and helping you!

Looking down at your house makes my heart happy! I'm so grateful that you live next door to me that I can hardly stand it. The sun setting over your house makes me take a minute to PRAISE the Lord!

We always, ALWAYS pull over after picking you up from school.

And most days you like to get a treat and come home and cut or do beads! ha

You cut out your pictures and tape them on "your" bedroom wall.

We made Christmas cupcakes! hahahaha

You are an awesome egg cracker!

You have so much fun with Bow...

You climb so well!

You haven't been feeling well and watching you sit down because you are too tired to play is hard to see...

Thankfully by the end of the week you felt better so that we could go to Members night at the zoo!

You were excited to get a horse tattoo!

The zoo wasn't too crowded and it was so nice!

Your legs are getting SO long!

I love the orangoutangs! They are so happy and playful. They remind me of you...

Since it was Member night, they had special activities! You made some binoculars.

You are at the age where this is getting to be too "young" for you because these "aren't real!"

You were cute with the panda!

But... you didn't really know what to think of the man on stilts! LOL So he offered to take a selfie from a distance! :)

I asked you what your favorite part of the zoo was and you said the PHOTO BOOTH! hahaha! You are your Dee Dee's boy! :) It malfunctioned and we didn't get "good" pictures but it was a fun memory.

We went to Frontera's on the way home from the zoo...

You came up to Dee Dee's with a book bag full of cut up "things!" ha

You wanted to go swimming so y'all did! Right in your shorts! :)

Your cough was giving you trouble though, so you wanted to get out. Dee Dee is sure praying that your cough will GO AWAY!

You've lost a couple of pounds and you can tell. This is the first time Dee Dee has really been concerned about your current health since you were in the hospital last November. I am praying you will put the weight back on soon!

Watching you swim like a fish is so exciting!

You and B have a great time playing around!

We sit out in the driveway a lot. It makes my heart happy! I can't wait to see you play ball. You are really good at it.

We went to the gas station for a snack after school and you chose cotton candy! :)

Pops decided to run with you to the mailbox and back! SOOOOO cute!

Pops played ball with you!

Dee Dee and Mommy checked you out of school one day. It was fun to watch you run down to the office...

We met Dada at the oral surgeons office so he could have a tooth pulled!

Nelly and Co-Chri moved to Loganville this month! YAY! We went to Target and you saw these beautiful sunflowers and wanted to get them for Dee Dee! I enjoyed them SOOOO much.

I would love to know what Thomason is thinking when you pick him up! ha

Your Mommy watched Thomason while they moved...

We also went to Lowe's!

Moving wore you two OUT! :)

The next week, I picked you up from school and we went to Nelly's. We stopped to get ice cream on the way.

You love to wrestle with Co-Chri!

If we have a free minute... we have been making something with our beads this month!

Dee Dee and Pops went to Florida with some friends! I saw this alligator and I had to take a picture with him so I could show you!

You didn't have the reaction I was expecting! LOL You were mad that you couldn't hold the alligator too! I hope I can take you back one day.

You and Mommy and Dada and B went swimming while we were gone! The temperature was lower than it had been (84 degrees LOL) and you were too "cold" to swim! haha

I love FaceTime!

It was SOOO good to be home. We pulled up and you and Mommy were waiting for us in the driveway. You ran and gave me the BIGGEST hug! SO exciting!

Dee Dee was POOPED but you said you wanted to wear a tie for school pictures and Dee Dee wanted you to have one! :) We tried but didn't have any success! :(

We went to pick up B today and Thomason was still at Jo Jo's! You LOVE him so!

Trying to get a picture for Nelly! haha

You both wanted to come back to Dee Dee's and play, so we did!

I'm glad you love milkshakes!

and... funny faces! :)

I adore you sweet boy! Your little smile melts my heart!

You are funny. You are literal. You are independent. You are stubborn. You are brave. You are loving. You are sweet. You are athletic. You are SO loved.

You love games. You love all things frogs and lizards. You love cutting. You love drawing. You love running. You love climbing. You love the creek and all things water. You like shoes or flip flops but aren't much for going far barefooted. You love milkshakes. You love chicken wings. You love prizes. You love candy. You are polite. You love sharks. You love fishing. You love friends. You love Daisy.

And I love YOU!

You don't like being told NO. You ask again and again and sometimes again... even after you know the answer. LOL You don't give up easily.

You say the cutest things! I need to start writing down more! :)

One day as we were riding, you said... "Do you want to know who I love the most? Dee Dee, Thomason and myself!" LOL

You weren't very happy that Dee Dee went to Florida without you. LOL I love some of the things that Mommy said you said...

You: can we go to Dee Dee's house?

Mommy: she's at the beach, buddy!

You: well, can you tell her that I love her more than the beach and Colorado and alligators and sharks?

OH MY HEART!

You also said this on the day we were coming home from FLA:

"Oh Mommy!!! I know that Dee Dee is coming home now." Your Mommy said you were quite smart to remember it was today but it would still be a little while. You said..."YAY! She can pick me up from school!" hahaha

You first started getting sick on August 9th, so it's almost been 3 weeks and you still have a cough. You missed two days of school this month and we're praying that will be it for a while.

If you are following Aspen's blog... we SO appreciate your prayers.

Prayer Requests:

* Aspen to gain weight! He lost 5% of his body weight this month and he was already struggling to keep weight on. The doctors started him on an "acid reducer" that is having a positive impact on his "oily stools"!

* Aspen's cough to go away. We are praying a new anti-biotic will get rid of what he has going on in his chest

* His CF visit on Friday, September 7th. He will see his CF doctor, the GI specialist and will also have a CT scan without sedation. It takes a brave boy to be able to undergo what he does.

* The friends that he will make at school and for his school year in general, including his teacher, Mr. Gerald.

* His school to continue working with his extra needs

* Lindsey and Chris as they work hard to provide and Lindsey, in particular, as she oversees all of his extra medicines and care

* His understanding of WHAT CF is as he begins to ask more and more questions

* A healthy fall and winter with no hospitalizations or lung exasperations

We can't thank you all enough for your support and prayers for our sweet boy! We can't wait to hear what the GI doctor has to say on September 7th and we appreciate your prayers SO much!

I love you, sweet Aspen! Happy 5 years and 5 months!
