You've had a really good month and I'm so thankful!
We started out the month in Brevard, NC (Highlands and Asheville). We had such an awesome time the week after Christmas and at New Years! It was really cold at the end of December but much of January has been warm. You've been healthy and we've been so thankful!
Dee Dee is playing with you after a long day outside in NC. This is the cabin that we rented... I love to play with you!
We're on our way to Highlands and you think it's hilarious to be talking and then "pretend" to fall asleep! LOL
You and B enjoyed getting to have Fruit Loops! :)
We love going to the Highlands... We always stop at Kilwins for an apple or hot chocolate. You got a chocolate covered rice krispee.
You and Bennett had some Christmas money from Granny and Papa. You picked out your own boots... your shark boots. You LOVE these.
It was freezing outside, so we could only sit for a few minutes...
You and B went into the Toy store to get some other Christmas presents from Granny and Papa!
This picture makes me smile!
We stopped by an old fashioned soda fountain in Brevard and got ice cream!
Dee Dee and Pops got you a mini pool table for Christmas! This is the present you opened and said..."AHHH! No way!" LOL
Nelly paid for you to JUMP at the Asheville Mall of New Years Eve! :)
Me and you made a chocolate cake together from scratch!
You were so proud!
You are SO silly!
One of the toys you bought in the Highlands...
You love to play with Co-Chri!
Dee Dee loves you when you fall asleep in my arms! I could squeeze you all night! :)
You made it to about 11:30 pm before conking out! You love to snuggle with your Mommy!
Happy 2017 sweet boy! You are SO loved!
New Years Day morning, Dada made Hawkins Hash for breakfast and it was delicious! :)
On the way home, we stopped by the Mall of GA and you jumped again! :)
We rode the Merry-Go-Round too!
This is how we entertain ourselves while Dada looks... chasing Co-Chri! :)
Dee Dee and Pops bought you a Paw Patrol fishing pole!
It was hard getting back into the grove of things back at home. When it was time for bed... you insisted that you needed to come and see your Dee Dee! :) You even put your shoes on. I love how you love to visit us!
We were playing in my bedroom and you saw this picture. In the sweetest voice you said... "Dee Dee...are you a princess!? You look like a princess, Dee Dee!" SO sweet!
I'm so grateful that you and Bennett love your fort!
Playing in the basement is our favorite! You love to jump and "play asleep!"
You love to make cookies and decorate them...
This picture cracks me UP! You had dribbled a little pee on your pants while going to the bathroom but you would NOT pull your pants up! haha! Mommy was on the way with new underwear for you. SO funny!
It's been so warm outside... you found "Charlie" while we played!
Dee Dee had a pretty major surgery on 1-12-17. I had my left kidney removed because of a large tumor and a hernia repaired. I came home on the 13th but didn't go outside for a couple of days but when I did... it was to watch you and Bennett play on your fort!
Hospital or not... Dee Dee had to FaceTime her sweet boys!
Your Dada took 2 days off of work so Mommy could be at the hospital with Dee Dee. I am so grateful! It looks like y'all had fun with Dada! You always do! :)
You love to ride your gator. I love to watch you. You stopped while riding and picked me a yellow flower. SO sweet!
Hanging out with Pops on this beautiful day!
And playing a little soccer...
You wanted to stay and eat with Dee Dee and Pops! You loved the lasagna that was brought for us for dinner!
I couldn't love you more! You've been a ray of sunshine while Dee Dee heals! But, of course, you always are! I thank the Lord every day that you and B and your Mommy and Dada live next door.
You're a fan of having your back rubbed! :)
You love to pretend you are a lion! haha
The brotherly love you have for Bennett makes me smile! You had been up at Dee Dee's and was going home and saw Bennett. You ran and gave him a big HUG and put your arm around him and walked to play. OH MY HEART!
January has been so warm, some of the month, that we sat outside until dark playing.
Dee Dee couldn't go to your CF clinic appointment so Nelly was sweet enough to go! Look at you wearing your mask like a big boy!
You had gained a pound since November, but more importantly had grown 1.5 inches. Dr. S was SO happy you were doing so well and hadn't been sick. She said most of her patients had a very hard winter and wanted to know what Mommy thought was the difference with you? Mommy said that she gave you elderberry syrup and Dr. S seemed to dismiss that. However, we believe the Lord has watched over you in a powerful way AND the elderberry syrup have made the difference. We couldn't be more grateful for how well you've done! This was your fastest appointment to date your Mommy and Nelly said. I'm so grateful for that too. I missed going with y'all.
You were 3 feet and 5 inches and 35 pounds! So excited that you had a good appointment. You don't have to go back until April for your annual appointment, which will include tests at CHOA (your first CT scan). PRAISE that you get to wait 3 months this time!

Watching you come up the hill to see me = pricess. Watching you come up with an umbrella... OH MY! You were so excited to come for a visit!
I love that your appetite seems to have picked up! You LOVE cheeseburgers. One night you ate a cheeseburger, 3 nuggets, fries and a milkshake! SCORE! You are eating so well! YAY, Aspen!
Playing in the bathtub with Bennett is something you still love to do!
You came up to play with Dee Dee one afternoon and saw Dada drive in the driveway! You said..."It's Dada! It's Dada!" I thought you were excited until you pushed the shutters closed. I said... "Aspen... what are you doing?" And you said the cutest thing...
"I don't want Dada to see me! I'm not ready to leave you Dee Dee!" Oh my heart! :)
You still love to put puzzles together. I can't wait until I can get back in the floor with you and do the puzzles with you!
After a very hyper, jumping everywhere kind of night... you and Bennett ended the night watching a game on the phone! SO cute! Oh my heart y'all are precious!
Dee Dee's friend brought you a fireman's hat and glasses. You had so much fun! Thank you, Michele and Dave!
You love to have bedtime stories read to you... tonight... Bible stories! :)
We spent the last Saturday in January cutting down trees... well, Dada and Pops did! I think in total, they cut down 9 trees. SOOO exciting!
You LOVED helping. You rode your gator and your tractor outside right along your Dada. You said..."Dee Dee! This is hard work. We're moving your trees, Dee Dee. Look at my cool coat and shark boots that I'm going to work in. Wow this is hard work! I am big and I am strong!" You loved working with Dada and Pops and you love being outside. You had the best day! You are so gentle with Dee Dee as my stomach heals and you ran and gave me random kisses throughout the day. I sure do love you little Mister!
Your Mommy's big helper...you love to help change B's diaper.
We finished up the day by going to get pizza and watching "Finding Dory" in the basement. You sat by Dee Dee and played with "your I-Pad"! SO precious!
I look at you and all I can think sometimes is..."THANK YOU, LORD, for your grace and mercy!" I am so proud of you. I love your sense of humor. I love how gentle and sweet you are. You are so smart. You are SUPER independent and that makes my heart happy.
We were all in the basement... and you wanted to get your I-PAD out of my bathroom upstairs. We were going to go with you and you stopped... Put your hand up and said..."NO! Stop! I can get it by myself. I won't drop your clothes!" hahaha (It was on top of some clothes in the bathroom). You were back in a couple of minutes and so proud of yourself. We were all proud of you too!
One of the funniest stories this month was Dada coming home early from work. You were in your Mommy and Dada's bedroom and Dada was in the den and called Mommy's phone. You were getting annoyed that Dada wouldn't stop calling. Mommy went into the den to join Dada (you still didn't know Dada was at home) and Dada called again and you heard Mommy.
You said..."Dada...you're with Dee Dee?"
Dada said...NO! LOL!
Then you said..."Dada... Mommy is at work with you?" hahahahaha
Dada hung up and called again... and you said..."WHY ARE YOU CALLING ME AGAIN?! AHHHH!"
You couldn't figure out why Dada wouldn't stop calling. The visual makes me laugh.
You are super talkative. You're a trickster and love to tell people they are trickster's too. LOL You love to "figure" things out and can work an I-PAD like an adult. LOL You're very social and love when Dee Dee has friends come to visit. You love playing with Bella and Leo. Your Mommy is checking out pre-schools for you to go to next year. It doesn't seem possible but you are going to LOVE going. You love to learn. You love cheeseburgers and gummy bears and apple juice from Dee Dee's. Your appetite is increasing and we couldn't be more grateful. You can drive your gator within an inch of anything and not hit it. ha! You are going to be an awesome driver one day. You love to ride the tractor with your Dada or the lawnmower. You love anything outside.
You are the sweetest and your Dee Dee couldn't love you more! One more month of being three and then you will be FOUR.
NO WAY!
I pray that you will finish up the winter healthy. I thank the Lord every day for how well you are doing.
Prayer Requests:
* For Aspen to remain healthy the rest of the winter and to avoid the flu or anything that would damage his lungs
* For his appetite to continue to be better! PRAISE!
* For his upcoming ANNUAL appointment on April 18th. Aspen will have blood-work, a CT scan, see the liver doctor and get the full work-up!
* Please pray for the annual CF campaign and walk on May 20th to go well and that we will raise money for research
* Pray for the research that is underway to be beneficial to Aspen
* Continue to pray for a CURE
* As always... for Aspen not to culture anything on this past visit or the next
* For Lindsey and Chris as they care for both boys, but more specifically the "extras" they have to do to keep Aspen healthy!
We're so grateful for everyone that keeps up with Aspen's journey.
