Have you ever taken a WORD and applied it to your YEAR? In the midst of all of the hard times in 2013, I kept hearing the word, "PERSPECTIVE". I heard the word over and over again and soon I realized that the Lord was telling me to look at things with a different "perspective."
About once a month I will go back and read my blog on perspective from last year… It makes me look back with a grateful heart and always brightens my day.

This year, I've decided to stick with the word "perspective" but to also add "Sweat." That may be an "odd" word to some but our motto this year is …"Don't SWEAT the small stuff but to SWEAT more in exercise." So I guess you could say it is a dual use word. ha!
Our newly finished basement was flooded…. Oh well! At least we have a basement to finish! :) And, praise the Lord we can pay the $6,000 to repair the foundation.
Our 5 year old washer has a blown motor? Oh well! At least we have a place to wash clothes and I don't have to go to the laundry mat. Of course… it took me a couple of days to remind myself of this! ha
Today as I look outside and see the beautiful snow and ice, I can't help but think about how GRATEFUL I am that none of our family was stuck in the terrible traffic jam in Atlanta AND that we are all off from work… I can't help but praise the Lord and pray for those that are affected.
As I look outside at the pure white snow and see how fresh everything looks… I can't help but think of sweet Aspen and how grateful we all are for him. He's our bundle of JOY and makes us all smile. I'm grateful that he is "fresh" and "new" like the beautiful snow and that so MUCH "new" research is in place as I type this out to find a cure for his cystic fibrosis and for the other 30,000 people in the United States affected by this disease. If he was going to be born with CF, there is no better time than right now. Each day brings more hope for a cure and each day we continue to pray for that miracle.
HAPPY, HAPPY 10 months, Aspen! We LOVE YOU!
Aspen's FIRST snow! January 28-29, 2014
 |
So glad he was able to use his Pooh snow suit and that school was canceled and Chris was off work! |
 |
Georgia State closed early. Aspen and I waited by the door for his Mama to get home and see him in his suit! :) |
 |
I think Lindsey better run! First snow at their house! What a blessed day! |
 |
Aunt Nelly and I were SO excited for Aspen to see snow. He wasn't as impressed as we thought he should be! ha |
 |
This picture makes my heart MELT…even with snow on the ground. |
 |
He would NOT smile…he was in such amazement at that "stuff" coming down. Precious beyond comprehension. |
The big snow and freeze were definitely the highlight of January and that's a good thing. Aspen didn't have a CF appointment this month because he's on the "every other month" schedule. His next appointment is the 2nd week in February.
 |
He is one COOL DUDE…that is for sure. That crooked smile gets me every time! There is NOTHING Aspen likes to do more than CLIMB. He climbs on everything. In fact, he seldom sits for even a second. He is walking around the furniture so well. He can bend down to grab something and keep on going. He can stand alone for almost a minute but he hasn't taken his first step yet. It won't be long. |
 |
He loves to suck in his upper lip. He looks like an old man! ha! He doesn't just enjoy walking around toys, he also loves to crawl under and around. |
 |
THAT face! Nothing sweeter.
It's time to pack Nelly and Chri for their big move! Flex those muscles, Aspen! haha |
 |
Aspen sandwich…. hey, we needed some way to entertain ourselves while the guys moved things. |
 |
Chris played bubbles with Aspen while we waited at the U-Haul store. Aspen loves to play with his Daddy. See… there is an advantage to leaving bubbles from a wedding in the truck, Dude! :) |
 |
Look at that hair and that face! He is growing so fast! It's already time to start planning his first birthday. WHOA! |
 |
He REALLY did like lemons. He kept going back for more and more! It was just the initial shock. ha! |
 |
I've learned Aspen would MUCH rather play with pots and pans and cups and his shadow! LOL |
 |
That face! I am now seeing how often I say that but it's true! SO CUTE! |
 |
We finally did it. Aspen is SO active, you can't even go to the bathroom. So… we put up a play pen. So far, so good! |
 |
We try every Tuesday to take pictures. He's rarely still enough to catch one that isn't blurry. #BLESSED
Nothing like a little POPS time! Pop is Aspen's singing and sleeping buddy! LOVE to watch them together.
Aspen fell asleep and look at his hair. Aspen LOVES his Mama time. He's started crying if he can't get to his Mama when he wants to! :) Both Chris and Lindsey are such awesome parents and I'm so proud of them both.
|
A rare, rare moment in time when Aspen decided to hug his Dee Dee. I'm so glad I could capture it.
Pops singing "Jesus Loves Me" to Aspen! Another sweet moment in time.
 |
Aspen is standing alone! If he is pre-occupied he does better because he's not aware that he is going to fall. As soon as he realizes that he is alone, he usually falls because he gets scared.
As I watched Aspen trying to stand alone and I watched him become fearful when he realized that we weren't holding him… it made me think of my relationship with God. God is ABLE to work in any situation I have. When I turn things over to Him, I am not as fearful of "falling." I read this quote recently….
Look around…. and be distressed,
Look within….and be depressed,
Look to Jesus - and be at REST.
Just as Aspen looks to Lindsey or Chris or one of us to be comforted, may we all look to Jesus. May we focus on Him instead of our circumstances. May we fill our minds with His word in 2014 and may we concentrate on His promises!
Faith DOES mean that you face reality - and then make a conscious choice to believe and trust God!
May we all rest in Him as we trust!
Aspen has the sniffles right now but otherwise he has had a healthy month. We are all so grateful! We continue to pray:
* For a cure and/or advancements in medicine
* For Aspen to become accustomed to the vest and his treatments
* For Aspen to stay healthy, especially his lungs
* For fundraising efforts for our Great Strides Team walk in May of 2014. Please feel free to share our information with anyone that you know that may want to join our efforts!
