Aspen's Journey with Cystic Fibrosis -Growing Like a TREE: January 2019

What an amazing month! January usually seems to go by slowly but this month has flown by. I love that we were able to take you all to Disney World this month. We had the best time! I'm not sure things could have been any better! You were SOOOO good! More on that later....

January has been rainy but up and down in the temperatures. We sure do love the warmer days where we can play outside. Dee Dee and Pops went to Highlands, NC today and y'all played outside and had so much fun.

I LOVE how much you look up to your Dada! You want to be just like him. If he's not wearing a shirt... you want to take yours off. If he's working on the go-cart, you want to be helping him. What an honor your Daddy has to have you looking up to him. I'm grateful you have a good Daddy to look up to and learn from. You will know how to work with your hands and to fix things and that excites your Dee Dee!

You love to ride your scooter...

I love that we can all celebrate New Years Eve together! We played in the basement and watched the ball drop.

You are so good at playing games on the Nintendo!

It's hard to believe that it's 2019...

You love your Mommy and Dada so much!

It seems like you've grown into a little man overnight....

I'm loving that we have Trixie! We love riding around outside...

I can't wait to watch you playing ball! You are very coordinated and I can tell you're going to be great at anything you try! I hope you'll have a balance in sports though. Mommy was going to sign you up for ball but it took up 3 nights a week until late. I think she made the right decision to wait until you are a little older! Playing outside and just being "5" is so important for you.

You can be really strong willed and a little defiant at times but you have the most patient Mommy. She takes a lot of time to talk to you eye to eye and help you understand how to act. I love the relationship y'all have.

You and I stopped at a gas station and you saw the Bass Pro gift card and wanted to get one for your Dada. ha! You are so sweet and you sure love your Daddy so much!

You are so independent. You have NO problem going right up to someone and asking questions or paying or just to say HI! I love your "take charge" personality! :)

Mommy got you and Bennett this game at the store on our day to Athens! You wanted to wear it in to the movie theatre. LOL

We saw Spiderman!

You were so excited to come home and play the game...

Your Mommy is a sport!

I love that we had some days to play outside!

You found a "Charlie" outside and wanted Thomason to be excited about him. He wasn't. ha!

We had a beautiful Sunday this month! We took the kayaks to the lake!

I LOVE sunsets! I love that you do too!

My day is MADE when I come to see you at school and I see this big ole smile on your face!

We checked you out of school a little early to leave for Disney! Look at that smile...

We rented a 15 passenger van! SO much fun...

We stopped at CFA in Valdosta but drove the entire way in one day. A great decision but a long drive...

We finally made it to our hotel around 10:30pm.

Y'all were a little excited! LOL

Dee Dee bought y'all these drawing "things" LOL and they were an awesome idea! YAY!

We got to the park right at 9AM when they opened! What a beautiful day we had...

Dee Dee and Pops feel so blessed that we were able to take y'all! I remember my Ree Ree and Papa taking me when I was around your age. Such good memories and I pray you'll hold on to these memories forever too!

The double stroller was a genius idea! SO worth it...

Mercy - I feel so grateful that we could take this trip!

It was super sunny but I'm super glad...even though it made smiling hard!

We went to the Contemporary Resort and ate brunch with Mickey and friends! What fun memories!

Meeting the characters was so fun while we ate...

We loved meeting them all but Goofy and Pluto were your favorites...

You threw the "ball" with Pluto! He was so much fun!

You were in heaven being able to get as many cherries and marshmallows that you wanted! ha

Your balloon only lasted the day but you sure loved getting one...

Big Thunder Mountain Railway was voted our favorite ride by ALL of us!

Splash Mountain was a lot of fun. We hoped to stay dryer with the poncho's but I'm not sure they helped that much! LOL

Your Mommy knew that they served "Dole Whips" at Disney, so we hunted one down. SO worth it. :)

The next day we were off to Hollywood Studio...

Hollywood Studio's was more crowded but we were SUPER excited to go to Toy Story Land!

Toy Story Land was more than we could have imagined! SO FUN!

Bennett refused to ride Tower of Terror the day before when we talked about it but decided to ride it the night we were there! You four are SO cute...

We spent our third day at Disney Springs!

After two beautiful days, it was hard to have a windy day but we were SO grateful that we didn't have rain. The wind was too strong to take the balloon up though!

We were able to ride these cool cars into the lake though!

We had to sign a waiver and I looked up and you had signed your name too! hahahaha

I love that you wore your glasses!

Disney Springs was really fun!

We couldn't eat at T-Rex but it was fun going into the gift shop and making a dinosaur!

The Lego store was pretty cool too!

We ate at Rainforest Cafe and it was YUM!

We got home around 3pm and the first thing y'all did was jump out of the van and start digging! HA

We were so happy to see Thomason and Nelly and Co-Chri!

You fell and hit your head on the fireplace and had to get TWO staples! :( Dada was gone and Dee Dee and Pops were at church. Your Mommy held you while she waited for Dada to get home! You went to urgent care. What a sad face!

You sounded a lot like Dee Dee when you screamed out... "just let me SEEE what the staple gun looks like!" ha!

I love picking you up from school and seeing what you did that day...

One of your friends gave you his dolphin and rock! You were super excited...

You love a milkshake and to draw...

And... all things GAMES!

You love to hold Thomason and to play with him...

Helping your Dada work on things is becoming one of your favorite things to do!

You were SO proud that you had grease on your hands! LOL

No one flinches when you climb on things like this because you are SO "sure-footed!"

You got this green toy for being so brave at urgent care! We tried to get it to ride between our legs! hahaha

If there's a tree close by... you're going to climb on it!

Goodness I love you two!

This month was full of wonderful memories! We welcomed 2019 and your Dee Dee sure prays for a healthy and happy year. We had some warm days outside in between the rain and cold snaps! We went to Disney for the first time and had your first Fun Run at school. And, most importantly... you were healthy! We all were. Thank you, Lord, for answered prayers.

It seems like you grew so much this month... and in ever way! You are becoming a BIG boy way too fast for my liking. :) You are fiercely independent, stubborn at times, yet loving and adventurous! You bring us all so much happiness just by being YOU!
